Burglar Alarms
Protecting Your Home
Professionally fitted burglar alarms are probably the most efficient deterrent to intruders.
There are a few different types of alarm system. The first, and most common, is the traditional "bells only" system. When professionally fitted these cost around £500 to install plus another £45 per year for a maintenance contract.
Based on the size and layout of your property we would recommend the most suitable sensors to protect your home, e.g. motion sensors, door contacts, window contacts, glass break detectors.
More advanced systems can be monitored, hence once the alarm is set off, the system automatically sends a message to a central monitoring station, which is manned 24 hours a day. After attempting to contact the homeowner, the central monitoring station will contact the police.
Burglar alarms are not the only approach to protect your home. You may be willing to install Door Entry Systems and CCTV.
Professional Service
The variety of alarms and their fitting is a complex subject. As a starting point the installation should meet with British Standard BS4737. This type of installation refers to hard-wired systems as opposed to wire-free. Though more expensive than many wire-free or DIY packages on the market, they are more reliable and conform to the Association of Chief Police Officers Intruder Policy.
